Clean Bench – Vertical & Horizontal Laminar Flow Workstations

Biogreen clean benches create a localized Class 100 work zone for particle-sensitive, non-hazardous processes. Choose vertical or horizontal airflow, single-person or two-person working widths, and a cleanable 304 stainless steel work surface.

Four standard models cover laboratory, optoelectronics, controlled manufacturing and other applications where airborne particulate control around the work area is important.

What Is a Clean Bench?

A clean bench is a localized clean-air workstation designed to reduce airborne particle contamination around a critical product or process. Room air is drawn into the unit, passes through filtration and a pressure-stabilizing plenum, then moves through the final high-efficiency filter before entering the work zone.

Depending on the configuration, the filtered air is delivered vertically or horizontally across the working area. The objective is predictable, particle-controlled airflow around exposed components, tools and surfaces.

Designed for Product and Process Cleanliness

A standard clean bench is not a biological safety cabinet or chemical fume hood. Do not use it as a substitute for equipment designed for hazardous aerosols, infectious materials or chemical containment.

Vertical and Horizontal Clean Benches

Choose the airflow configuration and working width according to workpiece geometry, operator capacity and available installation space.

Vertical Flow Clean Bench

Filtered air is supplied from the upper section and moves downward through the work zone. The vertical family uses a 700 mm work-zone depth and is available in single-person and wider 1–2 person configurations.

Horizontal Flow Clean Bench

Filtered air moves from the rear toward the front opening across the working area. The horizontal family provides a 640 mm work-zone height and is available in single-person and wider 1–2 person configurations.

How Unidirectional Flow Clean Benches Work

1. Air Intake

Room air is drawn into the clean bench by the fan system.

2. Pre-Filtration

Incoming air passes through the initial filtration stage before entering the internal air path.

3. Pressure Stabilization & Final Filtration

Air enters the plenum and then passes through the final high-efficiency filter.

4. Controlled Clean Air Supply

Filtered air is delivered into the work zone in a vertical or horizontal flow pattern.

Stable airflow, verified air velocity and a clean working surface are central to maintaining the intended local clean-air condition.

Cleanroom Clean Benches for Laboratory and Manufacturing

A cleanroom clean bench is useful when a process needs a localized particle-controlled work zone without changing the cleanliness strategy of the entire room.

Optoelectronics

Supports assembly and inspection steps where airborne dust can affect optical or electronic components.

Controlled Laboratory Work

Provides a clean-air workspace for suitable non-hazardous preparation, inspection and research tasks.

Pharmaceutical Support Processes

Can support appropriate non-hazardous component handling or preparation steps defined by the facility procedure.

Medical Device Assembly

Helps reduce airborne particulate exposure around clean assembly and inspection operations.

Precision Manufacturing

Suitable for particle-sensitive component handling, fitting and quality-control activities.

Cleanroom Production Areas

Creates a localized clean-air zone at selected workstations inside a broader controlled environment.

Clean Bench Testing: What Should Be Verified?

Clean bench testing should verify measurable operating conditions rather than rely on appearance alone. The product sheet states an inspection scope covering appearance, noise, illumination, airflow velocity, cleanliness and UV-lamp performance.

Appearance & Construction

Check cabinet condition, work-surface finish, doors/openings and visible assembly quality.

Airflow Velocity

Verify the stated average air velocity target of 0.45 m/s ±20% using the agreed measurement method.

Cleanliness

Verify the specified Class 100 cleanliness condition using the agreed acceptance procedure.

Noise

Confirm operating noise against the stated ≤65 dB product-sheet value.

Illumination

Confirm work-zone lighting against the stated ≥300 lx value.

UV Lamp Function

Where the model is supplied with UV functionality, include the lamp in the operational inspection scope.

The source sheet reports that measured results comply with YY/T 1539-2017 “Clean Bench”. For export projects using another acceptance standard, define the required test method and documentation in the RFQ before production.

Clean Bench FAQs

A clean bench creates a localized, filtered clean-air work zone for particle-sensitive, non-hazardous processes such as suitable laboratory preparation, optoelectronics, controlled assembly and inspection tasks.
Vertical clean benches deliver filtered air downward through the work zone, while horizontal models deliver filtered air from the rear toward the front opening. Biogreen offers SW-CJ-1FD / SW-CJ-2FD vertical models and SW-CJ-1C / SW-CJ-2C horizontal models.
The uploaded product sheet specifies Class 100 for all four standard models. Use the exact project acceptance criteria when a customer requires a specific international classification method.
The source sheet lists appearance, noise, illumination, airflow velocity, cleanliness and UV-lamp performance within the inspection scope. The average airflow value is 0.45 m/s ±20%, noise is ≤65 dB and illumination is ≥300 lx.
The work surface is specified as high-quality 304 stainless steel for all four models.
SW-CJ-1FD and SW-CJ-1C are specified for one person. SW-CJ-2FD and SW-CJ-2C are specified for 1–2 persons.
No. A standard cleanroom clean bench is intended for product/process particle control and should not be treated as biological or chemical containment equipment.
Yes. Buyers use both spellings to describe a clean bench used within a cleanroom or other controlled work area; “cleanroom clean bench” is the more compact professional spelling for this page.
“Cleanbench laboratorium” is a search phrase used by some European-language users for a laboratory clean bench. In professional English product documentation, “laboratory clean bench” or “laminar flow clean bench” is clearer.
