The Importance of Cleanroom Humidity
Product Quality Assurance
For the production of some electronic components, appropriate humidity can prevent static electricity accumulation and reduce damage to sensitive electronic components caused by electrostatic discharge.
In the pharmaceutical industry, a specific humidity range can ensure the stability and quality of drugs, preventing them from getting damp or too dry and affecting their efficacy.
Personnel comfort level
Appropriate humidity can improve the comfort of workers, reduce fatigue, and thus enhance work efficiency. Generally speaking, when the relative humidity is between 40% and 60%, people will feel more comfortable.
Equipment operation
For some precision equipment, stable humidity can ensure the normal operation and accuracy of the equipment. Excessive or insufficient humidity may cause equipment failure, decreased accuracy, or shortened equipment lifespan.
Humidity control method
Humidification method
Steam humidification: Increasing humidity by spraying steam into the clean room air. This method humidifies uniformly and quickly, but attention should be paid to the purity of the steam to avoid polluting the clean room environment.
Spray humidification: use the nozzle to turn the water mist into small particles and spray them into the air. The cost of this method is low, but it may produce water droplets. It is necessary to control the particle size and uniformity of spray.
Wet film humidification: Increasing humidity by passing air through a moist film material. This method is more energy-efficient, but the humidification speed is relatively slow.
Dehumidification method
Cooling and dehumidification: using refrigeration equipment to cool the air below the dew point temperature, causing the moisture in the air to condense into water droplets and be discharged, thereby reducing humidity. This method is suitable for situations with high humidity.
Adsorption dehumidification: Use desiccants such as silica gel, molecular sieves, etc. to adsorb moisture from the air. This method can achieve lower humidity control, but requires regular replacement of desiccants.
Wheel dehumidification: By continuously rotating an adsorption wheel, moisture in the air is adsorbed and discharged. This method has high dehumidification efficiency and is suitable for clean rooms with strict humidity requirements.
Humidity monitoring and regulation
Monitoring equipment
Humidity sensor: installed at different locations in the clean room to monitor real-time changes in humidity. Common humidity sensors include capacitive and resistive sensors.
Data logger: records humidity data for analysis and traceability of humidity changes.
Regulating system
Automatic control system: Based on feedback signals from humidity sensors, it automatically adjusts the operation of humidification or dehumidification equipment to maintain the cleanroom humidity within the set range.
Manual adjustment: When the automatic control system malfunctions or requires fine adjustment, the humidification or dehumidification equipment can be manually adjusted.
