Pass Box for Cleanroom
A UV pass box combines an interlocked material-transfer chamber with an ultraviolet lamp used as an auxiliary treatment step. It can be configured as a static or dynamic unit, with SUS304 surfaces, viewing windows, timer controls and custom chamber dimensions. UV exposure does not replace cleaning, and the required cycle must follow the facility SOP, item compatibility and quality system. Share the transfer process and control sequence so the equipment can be configured safely.
Product Introduction
A UV pass box provides a sealed route for moving materials through a cleanroom partition and includes an ultraviolet lamp for supplementary treatment of the chamber or exposed item surfaces. The double-door interlock remains the primary barrier against both sides opening together.
What UV Can??and Cannot??Do
UV may help reduce microbial contamination on directly exposed surfaces, but its effect depends on lamp condition, distance, exposure, shadows and the item surface. It does not replace cleaning, a validated decontamination process or the facility SOP. Sensitive materials should be reviewed for UV compatibility before use.
Key Benefits
- Reduces personnel movement during material transfer
- Maintains door separation through mechanical or electronic interlocking
- Adds a configurable auxiliary UV step
- Supports status indication or timed control on electronic versions
- Can be combined with static or dynamic chamber designs
- Allows chamber size and material to match the application
Technical Information
| Item | Available configuration |
|---|---|
| Pass box type | Static or dynamic |
| Chamber material | SUS304 recommended for cleanability |
| UV control | Manual, timer or project-defined sequence |
| Typical operating reference | Some sites use at least 15 minutes, but the approved SOP governs |
| Lamp life reference | Often around 4,000 hours; actual replacement follows output and maintenance records |
| Safety logic | UV and door sequence can be interlocked according to project requirements |
Common Buyer Questions
Can the door open while UV is on?
The control logic can be designed to stop the lamp or prevent opening during a timed cycle. Confirm the required sequence before production.
Is UV enough for sterile transfer?
No general claim should be made. Sterile or higher-level decontamination processes require a validated method based on the site quality system.
Can UV be added to a dynamic pass box?
Yes, it can be considered together with fan and HEPA filtration, subject to chamber layout and controls.
Customization and Quotation
Provide the item type, chamber size, static or dynamic requirement, cleaning SOP, desired UV sequence, interlock, voltage and documentation needs. The lamp and controls can then be included in the project specification.
